Haleem Recipe

Among many recipes of Eid, Haleem is the most common dish that is prepared by all families in the time of Eid.


250 gms red meat.

1 cup Wheat drenched overnight, husked, drained & pounded.

A handful of (split gram) channa dal, sodden for 1/2 hour.

A handful of (green gram)moong dal, for 1/2 hour.

A handful of (red lentils) masoor dal, sodden for 1/2 hour.

1 tsp coriander dry powder

2 tsp of garlic - ginger paste.

4 tbsp clarified milk (Ghee)

1 tsp Chili powder.

1/2 tsp turmeric.

2 Onions, sliver and fried crisp.

Salt as per the taste.


Heat up 6-8 cups of water in a broad-mouth deep bottomed container. Put in the soaked wheat, gram and mutton also add the coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric, salt, and ginger garlic paste when the water begins to boil. steam over average flames till the mutton is soft. Then crush the mutton and insert the compressed fried onion to this fusion. Heat the Ghee and dispense it over the Haleem. Add lemon-juice prior to giving it out hot.
